Workshop Series | Health & the Built Environment

This four-part workshop series engaged interdisciplinary Penn State researchers to grow collaborative and cooperative teams and to connect the Penn State research community across disciplines working at the intersection of health, climate change, the built environment, and policy. The workshops focused on the intersection and the needs of vulnerable populations pertaining to moisture, combustion & particulates, vegetation as a mitigator, and extreme heat.

Outreach Materials | US State Fact Sheets for Health Policy Experts

As a collaboration with the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), fact sheets for health policy experts were developed to explore how to leverage health care dollars for energy efficiency upgrades for all 50 states & the District of Columbia. The fact sheets were based on data collected by Penn State-University Park law students and undergraduates as part of an GBN-related IEE Seed Grant.

Conference Session | Energy Days 2021

Health + Energy Efficiency 101: Key Concepts and Questions at the Nexus of Health, Energy, and the Built Environment 

Aimed at researchers and practitioners focused on energy and the built environment, this conference session at Energy Days 2021 focused on how these areas relate to individual and community health, from climate change to in-home wellness. The session also provided an overview of emerging opportunities to leverage these links, including the potential to more comprehensively serve vulnerable populations and to braid funding streams between the health, energy, and housing sectors.

Webinar Series | Our Homes, Our Health

The Purdue Policy Research Institute of Purdue University, Habitat for Humanity – Asia Pacific, and the Pennsylvania State University hosted a three-part webinar series under the theme Our Homes, Our Health: Advancing an Inclusive Agenda for Building Performance.

Webinar | Clean Stoves, Healthy Families: How Indoor Air Affects Childhood Asthma

The US Public Interest Research Group, Physicians for Social Responsibility, Penn Environment, and Forward Dining Solutions hosted a co-branded webinar at the intersection of health and the built environment.
